On Friday 4 November 2022 at The Royal Yacht Hotel we had many reasons to celebrate as top exam performers collected their certificates, and raffle prize winners helped raise £1,910 for charity.
Prizes were donated by several organisations, including HSBC, Jersey Heritage, Hotel De France, Kalimukti, Botana, and The Royal Yacht Hotel. This included a British Lyons Rugby Shirt signed by Matt Dawson, courtesy of HSBC, an overnight stay at Hotel De France, an afternoon tea for two with The Royal Yacht, and £100 vouchers donated by the Institute and some of the aforementioned organisations.
A solid cause
All the proceeds went to our chosen charity of the night, the Jersey Women’s Refuge, with support from Soroptimist International of Jersey. The refuge is an independent organisation that provides a safe place for women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. Offering practical and emotional support, they keep a 24-hour hotline where conversations are kept confidential.
In attendance was comedian and actor Marcus Brigstocke as our guest speaker, alongside the Jersey Women’s Refuge chair, Ben Robins.
